Giloy An adorable herb of Ayurveda that not only recovers you from dreadful diseases but also makes you strong internally and improves your immunity so that you can easily evade from any ailment.
Guduchi is well- documented in Ayurvedic literature. It has been used and advocated in Indian medicine for ages”,
Now it is accepted almost all over the world
it also is known as ‘Amrita’, which means
‘the root of immortality’,
because of its abundant medicinal properties and one of the best Rasayana or rejuvenation herb.
Rasayana or rejuvenation is such a form of treatment in which all the tissues are nourished and enhanced.
It has been reported that it works by these responses
1. it is boosting the phagocytic activity of macrophages,
phagocytes are cells that protect the body by ingesting harmful foreign particles, bacteria, and dead or dying cells.
Phagocytes are crucial in fighting infections, as well as in maintaining healthy tissues by removing dead and dying cells.
2. production of reactive oxygen species in human neutrophil cells,
Neutrophils are the superheroes of the body’s immune system.
Normally mild-mannered, they travel through the bloodstream until they reach an emergency situation, such as a cut or infection, where they switch into battle-mode to engulf and destroy foreign invaders.
In short, they are essential for killing bacteria and other microorganism.
3. enhancement in nitric oxide production by stimulation of splenocytes and macrophages indicative of anti-tumour effect.
Splenocytes are the cells of the spleen,
the spleen also plays an important part in your immune system, which helps your body fight infection.
Spleens main function is to act as a filter for your blood.
When blood flows into your spleen, it recognizes and removes old, malformed, or damaged red blood cells by macrophages.
Macrophages are large white blood cells that specialize in destroying these unhealthy red blood cells.
And, Nitric oxide is important as a toxic defence molecule against infectious organisms.
Nitric oxide is an intercellular messenger that has been recognized as one of the most versatile players in the immune system
Aqueous Tinospora or Guduchi extracts has been also reported to influence the cytokine production, mitogenicity, stimulation and activation of immune effector cells.

Besides its ability to modulate the immune system,
Guduchi is a powerhouse of antioxidants like ascorbic acid, lycopene and carotene—
they have anti-ageing properties,
and also protect the cells of your body from free radical damage.
This effect can be traced to the zinc and copper it contains.
It also contains Calcium, phosphorus, iron and manganese.

According to Ayurved
Dosha aspect of Guduchi
As far as taste is concerned Guduchi (Giloy) is astringent, bitter and pungent.
Along with removing accumulated Pitta, Guduchi has immense potential to balance all the Doshas in the body.
Due to these properties, Guduchi, when consumed in the right quantity, helps in enhancing immunity.
