One of the most difficult parts of #aging is the fight-or-flight response. You’ve probably experienced intense #stress, #worry, #sadness, or just plain feeling miserable. It’s hard for most of us to cope with the intense emotions that are involved, but once you start a new life, the transition can start to pass more rapidly.

However, when you have an extremely advanced metabolism, it usually doesn’t. As you get older, your body starts making less and less glucose, and your body will try to get used to it. And since your metabolic rate increases, you’re going to have to expend more energy to keep it from slipping. What has anemic and/or hypo- or hyper-glycemia done for our ancestors is that it has allowed them to live well into their 50’s and 60’s, and to achieve optimal health as they got older.

Most of the above effects have gone away as well over time. So in the above analogy, those of us in our 50’s/early 60’s will experience things more like

We’re burning out our muscles as we age We’re wasting energy as we age We’re making poor diets as we age

If we could replace all the muscle- and fat-burning processes in our bodies with these new kinds of “energy-burning” processes, we’d still be working, even though no more energy would be being used.
