Eye Doctor to Natural Cholesterol Supplements

Seeing Clearly for Healthy Cholesterol

natural cholesterol supplementsThis past week a friend was insistent that I make an eye doctor appointment which led to researching for a natural cholesterol supplement.  What’s the connection, you ask?  Herein lies the story.

My dear friend was concerned after I’d mention a bit of eye fatigue from too many computer hours.  Not one to rush to doctors for every or any little thing, I dismissed the urgency mostly because of my quiet concern that something like cataracts or glaucoma would require surgery. And just for the record, I’m more than a little squeamish when it comes to my eyes. But she was relentless and together we went to the Ophthalmologist Center at a local hospital.

After preliminary testing by a very competent staff, the Good Doctor arrived to review my test results and take a look-see at my eyes. He immediately relaxed my tension stating no glaucoma, no cataracts, only an astigmatism…but coming back to the left eye said, “your cholesterol levels needs to be checked.”  How did he know I inquired, astonished.  Apparently he could see a yellow ring around the pupil. Huh, who knew?

I’ve since researched this ability for an ophthalmologist to “read the eyes” with regards to general health issues. Quite fascinating, really.  But the topic of the moment is that of acquiring a healthy cholesterol level.  As one who eats healthy foods,  is fairly consistent about daily exercise, at minimum, a 30 minute brisk walk,  and sips a half of glass of red wine with dinner, it’s pretty unsettling to find you’re not the epitome of health you considered yourself.

Oh, and I’m older now. I keep forgetting that little troublesome factoid. Fifty-eight, ok? :)

The family health issue comes to the forefront and yes, high cholesterol ran on both sides of the family tree. But I want an alternative option, as I really don’t take prescription drugs if I can help it and have since read enough about statin drugs to know they may not be the wisest choice.  (see below)  Although high cholesterol is serious, there is enough solid evidence that one can acquire a healthy cholesterol level without the OTC or pharma drugs typically prescribed.

Xtend Life: Reviews for Cholesterol Supplements

Several posts within this blog include Xtend Life reviews for their Omega 3 fish oil supplements, which I take religiously.  However, to date I haven’t personally taken or reviewed other products from the extensive line of xtendlife health supplements. (but yes on their skincare!)

That will soon change because I visited the company site to read more about their  natural cholesterol supplement and am about to place a three month supply.

As stated above, I’m not interested in using statin drugs for addressing my cholesterol imbalance; the negative side affects are down right frightening, for example: increased liver enzymes, muscle pain and tenderness, muscle weakness and pain, risk of heart failure, cognitive impairment and memory loss, as well as birth defects and impotence.

Thanks but no thanks.  There is a more natural approach to obtaining a balanced cholesterol level by including the combination of the following ingredients as described:

Policosanol - Extracted from sugar cane, rice bran and beeswax reducing production of low-density (LDL) cholesterol and increasing high-density (HDL) cholesterol.

Theaflavins (bioflavanoids) – Produced by fermentation of green tea with antioxidant effects; lowers LDL cholesterol while raising HDL cholesterol simultaneously.

Lecithin
A natural phospholipid which dissolves cholesterol, inhibits its absorption into the gastrointestinal tract and reduces oxidation. Lecithin increases cholesterol oxidation into bile salts, thus helping it to be excreted more easily.

Phytosterols
A plant sterol with a similar chemical structure to cholesterol. It reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the gastrointestinal tract by competing for the same space in cellulose molecules.

Rice Bran oil, Oryzanol
The outer grain hull of the rice containing fiber, lipids and amino acids…inhibits cholesterol absorption by converting cholesterol to bile acids and subsequently increasing bile acid excretion.

D-Limonene
A non-toxic component of the oil extracted from citrus rind; a natural solvent that builds up in the liver, inhibits HMG-Co-enzyme A and helps to dissolve cholesterol gallstones. D-Limonene is also known to help acute sinusitis and chronic bronchitis.

Xtendlife: Natural Cholesterol Supplements

Although these ingredients can be purchased separately, none are effective individually; they are all, however, included in the Xtend Life natural cholesterol supplements, product name: Cholest-Natural.  You might want to click on the this link and read  customer comments share  about their own results.  I’ll be posting my numbers before and after once I’ve been taking the supplements and had a follow-up blood test.

Here’s To Good Cholesterol Health…at any age. And a big hug to my insistent friend, Phy.

Good advise from your mom! I am always amazed to see people without sunglasses, especially in the tropics, at the beach or at high altitudes where the sun’s glare is super strong. We take so much for granted with our eyesight.

Thanks for your comment…and much success with your locket website.
