Foods Good for Skin
Natural Foods Good for Skin
Last week I visited the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and noticed smooth complexions of the local women and wondered if particular foods good for skin had something to do with their natural beauty.
With the profusion of fruits in the area such as papaya, avocado, berries and bananas, I suspected the diets of these women played a significant role in their complexions. And guess what? They not only eat these fruits but they also make their own facial masks.
I have posted a few times on this blog about DIY natural beauty recipes and I know many women (and some men) prefer to go this route when it comes to creating facial masks. Personally, I would if I had the time. Instead I prefer to use the Xtend Life skin care products and their supplements, and also include fruits in my daily diet.
Which fruits act as sources of foods good for skin? Good question! Here’s a brief over view of specific fruits and how they benefit the skin:
- Kiwi: Helps to detoxify the body, maintains healthy kidneys and liver, which in turn leads to a clearer complexion. Because it is rich in Vitamin C, helps promote cell regeneration and reduces appearance of wrinkles and age lines. When mixed with lime juice makes a great toner.
- Papaya: This tropical fruit gives your skin a healthy glow whether you eat it, make a smoothie, or pulverize it to use as a topical facial. This is one fruit I try to eat daily, because it is low in natural sugar.
- Avocado: This green gem is indeed a fruit and in addition to the health benefits of lowering rates of bad cholesterol avocado can help fight the aging process due to its rich source of Vitamin E. Again, eat or mash and use as a facial.
- Berries: Dark berries, such as blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, have abundant antioxidant properties. A particular foods good for skin recipe I discovered combined honey (raw), plain yogurt and a mix of berries. It sounded too good not to eat, so I made a smoothie and yummm!
